9/3 Learn to Listen Topic: Anger

" Wherefore my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." James 1:19

Have you ever gotten into an argument with someone and it degenerates into a verbal shouting match where no one is listening to what the other has to say but instead is trying to "win" the argument?

Our text tells us that we must be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. We must be quick to really listen to what the other person is saying. Often, we do not have the "whole picture" in a discussion and are quick to make judgments. Also, think about what you are saying before you speak. Are you really being honest about the situation? Are you exaggerating things? Be slow to get angry. It is not spiritual to have a "short fuse". We must be longsuffering with others.
