1/17 Strength for Today

One Person You Can Trust

Joshua 21:45
“There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.”

We live in a society where someone's word does not mean anything. Because someone's word doesn't bind them to what they said, now people are required to sign contracts to make sure that they follow through. The sad part is this, even though someone has signed a contract, they can get themselves out of that contract with a high priced attorney. It is a sad day when you can't trust a person's word.

There used to be a day when a person said they were going to do something, you could take their word to the bank. There used to be a day when a handshake was as good as a signed contract. There used to be a day when you never wondered what someone meant by their word, you could take them at their word. This was back in the day when character was important to a person. This was a day when someone's word meant something to them.

Now, we have politicians who promise people the world, and once elected, never follow through on their promises. Now, you have couples walk down an aisle to get married, and a few years later, they go back on their words, "Till death do us part." Now, some people wonder if there is anyone whom they can trust.

I have some good news for you; there is Someone Whom you can trust. In the verse above the Scriptures say, “There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD has spoken...” The one person you can trust is God. If God said He is going to do something, then you can count on it. If you read a promise in the Word of God where God said He would do something conditioned on our actions, if we do those actions then you can count on it that God will follow through on His end of the bargain.

If you are wavering a bit on whether God will follow through on the promises of His Word, don't waver. God has never failed in following through with any promise He has given. Trust Him, He is Someone Whom you can trust. Just because you can't seem to trust anyone else's word, don't think that God is like everyone else; He's not. One of the things I have learned in life is that everyone else may fail me, but the one person I can trust is God.

Go ahead, step out on what God has commanded you to do, He will come through as He said He would. You will find out that if you trust God that not one word will fail of anything God has promised.
