2/10 Strength for Today

A Day of Trouble

2 Kings 19:3
“And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.”

Do you feel like Hezekiah in this verse when he says, “...This day is a day of trouble...” Hezekiah was certainly in a very hard position with the king of Assyria blaspheming God and threatening to destroy Judah. This trouble was not just a passing trouble either, because the king of Assyria was the king who had destroyed all the other nations he invaded. Now this trouble had come to Hezekiah, and I am sure the prospects of delivery did not seem too prosperous. In his day of trouble, he did not panic, but he ran to the One Who could help him through his trouble, and that One was God.

We all have troubles that come in life. When troubles come, it seems that these troubles are overwhelming and will never leave. We must be careful in the day of trouble that we do the right things so that our troubles don't get worse. Too many times in the day of trouble people make the wrong decisions and compound their troubles. You must make sure that when troubles come that you don't compound your troubles with foolish actions.

When the day of trouble comes, don't panic. Our first instinct when troubles come is to panic and hide from the them. Running from your troubles and hiding from them will not make them go away. Yes, we run and hide from troubles out of a result of panic, but this will make the troubles worse.

When troubles come in your life, instead of panicking, pray. The One Who can help you when your troubles come is God. When the trouble of lost employment comes, pray. When the trouble of sickness comes, pray. When the trouble of wayward children comes, pray. When the troubles of divorce come, pray. When financial troubles come, pray. Your first action should be to pray.

When troubles come, you also need to make sure you get some help. Hezekiah ran to the man of God in his time of troubles and that would also be wise for you to do. Your pastor can certainly pray and counsel you through your troubles.

Last of all, when troubles come, trust God. God has never failed you in the past, and He won't fail you now. God is trustworthy and faithful to help His children, and He will help you in whatever trouble you face today.

When troubles come be careful not to make foolish decisions. Remember, when troubles come don't panic, pray, get help and trust God. This will help you to make it through your troubles without making foolish decisions.
