2 Chronicles 22:11
“But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.”
The life of Jehoshabeath is nothing short of a miracle. With the background that she had, it is a miracle that she turned out for good. To understand her background, you must take the whole chapter in view.
The verse above says she was the daughter of King Jehoram, the sister to Ahaziah. When you read about the lives of both of these men, it is nothing short of a miracle that she turned out for good. For instance, she had a wicked mother. Her mother was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri, who was the daughter of Ahab. In other words, in spite of having a mother who was a very wicked woman, Jehoshabeath turned out right.
Furthermore, Jehoshabeath had a mother who counseled her to do wrong. Here is a young lady who didn't have a mother who taught her to do right, she had a mother who taught her to do wrong. Yet, in spite of the wickedness that her mother taught her to do, she still did right.
One other thing about this good lady was that she had an older brother who turned out wrong and did wickedly himself, yet she still did right. Though her whole family did wrong and lived a wicked lifestyle, she did right.
I believe the reason she turned out right was because she chose to be in the right places and have the right friends. When you read the verse above you see that she married the preacher’s son. In other words, she went to church when the rest of her family wouldn't go to church. The decision to be in church ultimately led her to meet her future husband. This decision to marry the preacher’s son caused her to make this heroic act in saving Joash from being killed. This miracle life of Jehoshabeath occurred because she made right decisions when others around her were making wrong decisions.
We have no excuse for any wrong that we do. When we do wrong it is our choice to do wrong. You can give every excuse in the book about your background, but ultimately doing right comes down to your decision.
Ladies, when your husband does wrong it is your choice to do right. When a spouse is lost and lives a wicked lifestyle, it is still your choice to do right. When your family lives wickedly, and does things that you know are wrong, it is still your choice to do right. Bus kid, you may live in a bad neighborhood and have parents who are counseling you to do wrong, but ultimately doing right is your decision. No matter what your background may be, the decision to do right or wrong is yours to make.
We all have choices we make throughout each day, and ultimately the decision will fall on your shoulders. You need to decide to make the right choices realizing that your decisions will affect the rest of your life. Remember, no matter what your excuse is you must always make the right decision, because the choice is ultimately yours to make. The choice to have a miracle life is yours to make. Making the right decisions will give you a miracle life.
