2/3 Strength for Today

1 Kings 8:56
“Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.”

After Solomon completed the building of the temple, he went to God and prayed for God to bless His people for their obedience and work. In this prayer, we read a phrase in the verse above, “...there hath not failed one word of all his good promise...” What a powerful promise God gives us in this little phrase. Let me give you three observations about this phrase that will help you.

First, we have not lost any of God's words. Notice the preciseness of this phrase that not one word had failed. He did not say that one phrase did not fail. He did not say that one thought did not fail. He said that one word did not fail. In order for one word to not fail would mean every word is still there.

What a wonderful promise that we can hold onto that, to this day, we still have every word of God. We don't just have the thoughts of God; we have the words of God. Some may say that we have all the thoughts of God but not the words of God, they are wrong. According to this verse we have every word of God today. We can find every word of God in the King James Bible.

Secondly, when he said that not one word had failed, that also would mean that not one word of God has lost its power. In fact, God's Word still has the same power today that It had in the beginning. Christian, you can take confidence in the fact that God's Word still has the same power today to accomplish great works in your life just as the Apostles and Patriarchs saw the Word of God do in their day. Whatever promise God has promised us in His Word is still applicable for us today.

Last of all, because not one word of God has failed, we learn that every word of God has succeeded in its goal. God promised us that His Word would not return void, and It won't. God's Word is successful today! When we learn that God’s Word is successful today it means that God's Word is relevant to your life. Whatever problems you face today, you will find that God's Word is relevant to those problems. God's Word is not for the past, but God's Word is for the present. God's Word will still succeed today just as it did in Solomon's day.

As you go throughout your day, remember that the Word of God is relevant for you today. Whatever problem you face, God's Word has the answer for you. You do not lack any of God's words, you have them all and they are still as powerful and relevant for you today as they were for those in the past.
