Can God Use You?
Genesis 6:7-8

Daily faithfulness leads to godly usefulness.

Many stories are told of preachers whose preaching has caused great ripples in their communities. Places of immorality shut down, whole towns turned to Christ, and history records a new sense of morality established in portions of the world. One man who took part in pointing people to God was F.B. Meyer.

Meyer was a British pastor who was known as a crusader against immorality. His sermons often saw many people saved or repentant of their lives of sin. He lived and preached at the time of the famous American preacher D.L. Moody, and while Meyer pastored in England, he travelled around the world to preach revival. He was a frequent guest of Moody's in America, and after Meyer's death was even mourned in American newspapers.

Even though Meyer was well-known and respected, he recognized his influence was from God. One day a young preacher approached Pastor Meyer seeking advice, and asked how he could one day become as influential and well-known as Meyer. F.B. responded, "Don't waste your time waiting and longing for large opportunities which may never come. But faithfully handle the little things that are always claiming your attention."

Like the young preacher, I'm sure we could all say that we desire for God to use us in a great way. We read stories of Moses, Joseph, Daniel, Peter, and Paul, and we desire for God to work through us as He worked through those men. Yet F.B. Meyer's words tell the secret for being used by God-daily faithfulness leads to godly usefulness.

God uses those who are faithful with what He gives them to do each day. Only dreaming of being used by God in a great way won't accomplish much, yet faithfully serving God in daily tasks will open doors to greater usefulness.

As we've seen, Noah wasn't a prominent figure in history before the flood, but he was a man who faithfully followed God each day. In a world filled with wickedness, Noah found grace in God's eyes.

Think of other Bible characters that God used-Moses was a faithful sheep herder in the desert; Joseph was an obedient son; Daniel was a prisoner who didn't lose his faith; Peter was a fisherman who followed Jesus; and Paul was a sinner who recognized his need for a Saviour. These men were "nobodies" to the world, yet as they chose to follow God and faithfully served Him, God used them.

Think of your own life. Can God use you? God's only requirement for your life's resume is one word-faithful. He's not looking for experience, wealth, influence, or great training. He uses those who are faithful with what He's commanded of them.

Are you faithfully serving God with what He's given you and where He's placed you? God desires to use each of His children to spread the message of His love to the world, yet He's looking for those who are faithfully serving Him. Daily choose to serve God, and as you remain faithful, pray that God would use you in a mighty way to show others His message of salvation.
