HALLELUJAH, let the voice of the great multitude sing the chorus across the ages, from the beginning to the end! The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth!
He is risen!! The soldiers guarding the tomb were gone! The stone to keep His disciples out was gone!
The angels some had expected to save Him from the cross were there to tell all, He is risen!!
To one, then another, He appeared and confirmed what had been foretold. That evening His disciples were together, still fearful for they did not understand what was happening. They were talking about what the women had seen this morning, every detail important and covered by all. They began to understand the scriptures, that He must rise again from the dead.
They stood with their backs to the closed, barred door. Yet He appeared in the midst! One moment talking, the next struck dumb as He reached forth His nail-scarred hands and offered His peace.
The joy of seeing Him left them speechless, and gave Him the quiet to let His words flow, spreading the peace that passeth understanding. He gave us purpose, things to do, work from God's eternal plan. John wrote it down " As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." We must speak that we do know, testify that we have seen, and tell the all that "the world through Him might be saved."
The world itself cannot contain the books that should be written, according to John 21:25. And neither can it contain all the songs to be song on Easter morn. While there are many that move my soul to rejoice, the clearest, dearest is the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. The work presents the prophecy and coming of the Messiah; the redemption of mankind through the sacrifice of Jesus; and ultimately the thanksgiving for the defeat of death through faith in God and the Son who came for our salvation.
Glory to God in the highest, for the Son has come to seek and save that which was lost. Join in the chorus that celebrates the victory of He Who wears on His thigh: 'KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.'
