He Entered Again

Mark 3:1
“And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.”

One word in this verse that should be driven into the heart and soul of every believer is the word “again.” When you study the life of Christ you will see that He didn't give up on something or someone after the first time, but he went and tried to do the task again. When it says that Jesus “entered again,” it implies that He had tried to go into the synagogue before with no success. We read earlier in the Book of Mark that “he entered into Capernaum” again. Jesus will not give up after the first try. He will try again and again until He accomplishes the desired work in the hearts of individuals.

This reminds me of a man in our church who is a very good soul-winning Christian. This man has been to Bible College to study for the ministry and is heavily involved in our church ministry. As involved as he is in our church, and as good of a soul winner as he is, he had a great heartache that he carried for many years; his parents were not saved.

I can remember going to the region of the country where his parents lived and him asking me to pray that they would get saved. He had witnessed several times to his parents to no avail. But, he recently was visiting his parents and witnessed to them again and they finally got saved. This happened because he went to them again with the Gospel of Christ.

Just because you tried to do something before and had no success, doesn’t mean that you should give up on what you are trying to do. Christ didn't give up going to the synagogue. Christ didn't give up going to Capernaum. He went to those places again. This implies that He did not succeed the first time.

You may feel like you have tried for a long time, but I want to encourage you to try again. You may have prayed a certain prayer and have not seen any success come from that prayer; I encourage you to pray again. You may have tried to witness to your friend or family member to no avail; I encourage you to go and witness to them again. You may have failed to overcome some sin in your life many times; I encourage you not to give up and try again. You may have tried to love someone before with no success; I encourage you to go and try to show your love to that person again. You may have tried to get through to your backslidden child with no success; I encourage you to try it again.

It is those who keep on going again and again who see success. Though success may seem to have forsaken you in some area of your life, I hope you will take this thought and will go out today and try again.
