Organizing Yourself Spiritually, Part 2 of 4
2. Have a prayer life!
Don’t just say a prayer to just say you have prayed. Prayer is so much more! It’s the door of communication to the Lord that can be used all day long. I daily pour my heart out to the Lord and beg for a change in me. If you want an open line of communication with the Lord, you have to have a prayer life.
I desire a closeness to the Lord, do you? If you don’t, you’re not spiritually growing. Don’t just pray for others, but also pray with others! When someone is going through a problem or hard time, stop what you are doing and pray with them. When someone has a child go wayward, looses a parent, gets a disease, etc., stop and pray with them. Don’t sit and gossip about a situation, pray about it. There’s nothing that bonds hearts together like prayer! You can bring encouragement and comfort to a hurting heart by praying with them. Be the type of person to whom people run when they need help because they know you will pray for and with them.
3. Have a soul-winning time.
You should weekly schedule a time to go soul winning. Once you do, don’t be satisfied with just showing up. Go expecting to see someone saved. Pray before you ever get to the church that the Lord will help you to find the exact person who needs Him.
Have a burden to see souls saved. If you don’t have a burden for seeing people saved, then you need to spend some time in prayer begging the Lord to stir you. People need the Lord, and the more our world changes the more they feel they don’t need Him. If they are going to get saved, it’s going to take you giving up your time to go and tell them about the Lord.
Have a goal to see at least one person saved each week. I find that when I have goals I work harder. When I don’t have goals, it’s easier to be complacent. I’ll spiritually grow in my soul winning by training others to go. Taking someone with you will help you stay excited about going. When I have a partner who is new to soul winning, I get excited as they learn to tell others about the Lord. I get super excited when I see them finally win their first soul.
