Joshua 8 – The Victory
This passage is talking to the victory in Ai, after the purging of the people. Achan was found out and he was judged for what he had done. Now, Israel needs to claim the victory…
Can you claim the Victory?
1. We need to hear of the Victory from God (Joshua 8.1)(1 Corinthians 15.55-57)
“…Fear not, neither be thou dismayed…”
1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
a. God got Joshua to believe in Him again. Joshua did as instructed and purged the company of the sin that was in it and God went right to work with them.
2. We need to heed to the calling of God to go Victory (Joshua 8.1)(1 Corinthians 15.58)
“…take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai…”
1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
3. We need to thank and praise God after the Victory (8.30-35)
1 Chronicles 29:11 “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.”
Psalms 150:1 “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.”
Luke 19:37 “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;”
