12/18 Merry Christmas Series

Part 5 of 5

5. Stay spiritual

I was recently preaching at a church when a fine man came to me and told me the frustration that he had with his personal walk with God. He had purchased my booklet, How to Study the World’s Greatest Book, and told me that this booklet had revolutionized his Bible study. Then he told me that his greatest struggle was being consistent in studying the Bible. He told me that during the Christmas season he would fail to stay faithful to his Bible study. My response to him was that he was not the only one to struggle during this time of the year. I told him that the reason why he struggled was because he got out of his daily routines and that those routines were the things that helped him stay spiritual.

If you are not spiritual during the Christmas season, then you will have a hard time enjoying it. There is no way you can enjoy Christmas being unspiritual. The greatest ally to staying spiritual is routine. You will have to be extra careful not to get out of your daily routines during the Christmas season.

For instance, get up at the same time when you always get up so that you don’t miss your personal time with God in prayer and study of the Scriptures. One thing I have done for years is to get up at the same time no matter what day it is. The time I get up is not what makes me spiritual; it is what I do when I get up that keeps me spiritual. I get up at the same time every day so I can spend time with God in the Scriptures and prayer. This routine has kept me from backsliding during the Christmas season.

It is of utmost importance that you stay in all of your routines during the Christmas season. The routine of going to church should not be canceled. The routine of when you spend time with God in the Scriptures and prayer should never be canceled. You will stay spiritual because you plan to be spiritual. The way you plan to be spiritual is through your routines. Whatever you do, stay in your routines so that you can enjoy Christmas and the days following Christmas.

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. I want you to enjoy your Christmas to its fullest. These five suggestions will help you and your family to enjoy this Christmas like never before.

From my family to you, we hope you all have a wonderful, happy and spiritual Christmas. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
