What is lost for the Lord ~ is Gain!
2 Chronicles 25:9

"And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The Lord is able to give thee much more than this."
--2 Chronicles 25:9

The question that we must ask is, “Do we believe that God is able to take care of us?” In this I think of the offerings that God has prompted in my life. Not the tithe – for that is a set amount, but the offerings. Sometimes we look at giving something as a lost. The #1 reason why people do not want to follow God ~ for the apparent losses that they may have…the only thing that they are losing is life of liberty.

Spurgeon states “Our Father holds the purse-strings, and what we lose for His sake He can repay a thousand-fold.”

Matthew Henry States “Note, A firm belief of God's all-sufficiency to bear us out in our duty, and to make up all the loss and damage we sustain in his service abundantly to our advantage, will make his yoke very easy and his burden very light.”

Let us look at gains and losses:

Proverbs 1:19 “So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.”

Proverbs 15:27 “He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.”

Matthew 16:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8.36)

Luke 9:25 “For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?”

Philippians 3:7 “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.”

1 Timothy 6:6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

The next question that we have to ask is what are getting for? Could it be for debt, new car, children’s school, and groceries? The position that we must take is found in Matthew 6.25-34

1. (v25) Be not anxious for what you need

2. (v26-28) God takes care of His creations (Genesis 2.4-6)

3. (v30-34) God will take care of His formations (Genesis 2.7)
