Benefits of the Man of God
2 Kings 4:22
“And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.”

The importance of having a man of God in your life cannot be stressed enough. In today's society, the absence of the man of God in the lives of people has caused many to miss out on the benefits that he can provide. I have had the privilege in my life to always have a man of God in my life. From childhood to this present day, the man of God has had a tremendous influence on my life to the point that I doubt I would be where I am today without that presence.

In the verse above is a story about a lady whose man of God was Elisha. After finding out that she had no children, Elisha prayed for God to give her a child, which He did. Unfortunately, the child died a premature death leaving this woman filled with grief. You will see that she ran to the man of God who was able, by God's power, to raise him from the dead.

Christian, it is very important that you have a man of God in your life. There are many benefits you receive from having a man of God. The story above shows us some of those benefits.

First of all, a man of God is there to help you with your broken heart. When you have a broken heart, God uses the man of God to help you through your time of grief. It is very important that you understand that God's man can help comfort you during your time of grief. Don’t avoid him during these times, but ask him to help you with your broken heart.

Secondly, the man of God can give you counsel. There will be times in your life when you will need counsel from the man of God. God gives the man of God special wisdom to help you. When Saul needed advice on finding his livestock, he went to the man of God. Though the man of God does not know everything, he is there to help you with advice. Let the man of God be one of the counselors in your life that advises you.

Thirdly, the man of God can help you answer tough spiritual questions. There are times as a Christian which you may come across questions from the Scriptures that you just don't understand; the man of God can certainly help you in answering spiritual questions.

Fourthly, the man of God can help you pray for miracles. There will come a time in your life when you will need a miracle. During those times you would be wise to go to the man of God and ask him to pray for you. Throughout the Scriptures God used men of God to perform miracles, and He still uses the man of God to help you experience the miracles you need.

Lastly, the man of God can give you confidence to strengthen your faith. When you lack the confidence to step out by faith and do God's will for your life, the man of God can give you the encouragement you need to boost your confidence.

I encourage you to be sure to use your man of God in these ways. If you don't have a man of God in your life, then you need to find a church where you can have such a man of God who will give you the confidence that he can help you in all these areas. If you are a man of God, then be sure that you give your people a reason to put confidence in you in all of these areas. Everybody needs a man of God! Be sure that you don't let your pride to keep you from asking your man of God for his help.
