1/4 Some Baptist Distinctives

What makes us different from others?

1. Salvation by grace, apart from works.(Eph 2:8, 9)
Baptists have suffered much because of their stand on works vs. grace.

2. Eternal salvation (Heb. 5:9)
There is a multitude of scriptures to support this doctrine.
Closely related to #1: if men believe they can lose their salvation, they are holding on by works.

3. Separation (Acts 13:2)
Ecclesiastical/secular
“Elitist”? No!
Separation is almost dead in our churches today.

4. Baptism by Immersion (comp. Mt. 3:16, and etc.)
Depicts the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. (All three necessary for “Gospel”.)
--One cannot be buried from a quick sprinkling.

5. A literal, fiery hell (Lk. 16:19-31)
A “lake of fire” Rev. 20:15

6. One God, but three distinct and separate entities. (1 Jn. 5:7)
A “triune” God:
God the Father;
God the Son;
God the Holy Spirit.
