Our Duty Series - Loving Leadership
1 Thessalonians 5.12-13
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”
In this passage we are going to se that there are some things that we are going to have to do when it comes to our lives as Christians. Many places in the bible that we can go and know that God has work for us to do.
This first topic is one that could hinder your spiritual growth-
The bible says to in 1 Timothy 5:17 “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.”
- Do we respect and honor those that are leading us in the Word of God?
- Are we murmurs and complainers?
Secondly the bible says in Hebrews 13:17 “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
In this verse there are two things that we can put into our lives as believers.
- Obedience – The leadership that we have in our live is from God (Romans 13). We should obey them – as we obey God!
- Submit – If we have submitted ourselves to God, submitting ourselves to the leadership that He has put us under should be very easy.
Our goal is to help breed a attitude that will bring about peace and the moving forward in God. Hebrews 5.13 “…And be at peace among yourselves.”
Remember Korah?
In Numbers 16 we see how that God deals with those that go against His appointed leaders.
