Exodus 2 The Irony of God!
“And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.” (v. 9)
Isn’t it ironic that God allowed Moses’ mother to nurture him, and then had her do it at Pharaoh’s expense? God works in wonderful ways, and He always comes out on top! Many babies were killed in Egypt those days, but God preserved Moses, and, to add to the irony, allowed his mother to raise him. What a God we have.
God had plans for Moses, as we all know, and therefore He preserved him for His own glory later on. Our Lord is worthy of all honor and glory, much more so than we will ever be worthy to give. It is our duty, as well as our joy to give Him glory though, we were created specifically for this purpose (Isa. 43:7). The whole “duty of man” is to “Fear God and keep His commandments” (Eccl. 12:13), and, in so doing, we glorify Him. How often God uses the wiles of the wicked against him! He did it with Haman, in the Book of Esther, another one of His ironies.
The world needs to see something here though; they need to realize that you can’t outsmart God. When it comes to His people, realize that “No weapon formed against them” will prosper (Isa. 54:17). When we fight against God’s people, we fight against Him. Sin shall be a snare to them that do so, and they shall fall into it themselves though it was laid for another. Don’t be a victim of the irony of God, instead be a blessing to Him and His people. We do this by obeying His Word, and the command mentioned above in Ecclesiastes 12; by giving Him our heart, and our mind and our soul, and bodies, and our everything! Hopefully He has our soul already, but we need to give more, we need to give Him “us”. It is not enough that we love Him, but does He have all of us? Does He get glory from our lives?
