Message Title: His Footsteps
Date: Tuesday February 07, 2012Today's Chapters: Numbers 3-4
Hello My Friend,
Part of serving God is serving Him in whatever duties He appoints us. Regardless of who we are, God chooses us to serve Him in some way, some He uses to serve Him in their jobs, some their homes, even some when passing by some stranger. Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth in the flesh as a servant, He lowered Himself to a mere servant even though He could have done anything He wanted to do. Why? To show us that we are all servants and are to follow His example. “So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” - John 13:12-17.
While God always uses anyone willing to serve Him out of the church, He appoints specific people to work for Him in the Church. People that He actually employes, meaning, He provides for them Himself through others outside the church for fulfilling the duties of the church. God set the Levites apart from the rest of the tribes to work for Him in the church, the sons of Aaron were to carry on the priestly duties, but the rest of the Levites were given specific duties for setting up, taking down, and even carrying the parts of the tabernacle. “These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai...And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine; Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.” - Numbers 3:1,12,13.
God appointed the Levites to serve in the church, because He adopted them as His own in the place of all the first-born of Egypt. When He slew the first-born of Egypt, He sanctified to Himself all the first-born of Israel, of man and beast, for His own possession. However, He decided to sanctify all the Levites instead of the first-born of all the tribes instead. While we may choose to serve God in our own free will God has already chosen us, adopted us into His family. “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” -Ephesians 1:4,5.
Those who God chooses to serve in His church are appointed certain duties and no matter how obscure the duty is it is equally important to God. Whether you are chosen to be a pastor, a pastor's wife, a teacher, a cook, or a janitor, no job goes unnoticed with God and as long as we do it willingly He is happy. “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.” -1 Corinthians 7:20-22.
Sometimes it can feel like a burden when you serve in the Church, you are working for God, you have more responsibility and not only is your reputation on the line, so is God's, you do something out of the church that is questionable and it disgraces God and you. Guess what? It's supposed to be a burden, the word burden means, that which is carried, a heavy load to carry. God gave the burden, of the Tabernacle and all the duties of it to the Levites, anyone over the age of thirty was appointed to work in the Tabernacle. The Levites were the smallest tribe of all the congregation, yet they were appointed the most honorable task of all. “All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation, Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore. According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.” - Numbers 4:46-49.
If God has you working in the Church, count is a blessing, He chose you, He knows this is a burden that you can handle. How? If Christ is with you, you can do anything. God knows what you can bare and has chosen you out of thousands of people to be the example for others to follow in the footsteps of Christ. “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;..This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.” - 1 Timothy 1:11,12,15,16.
As Christians, we are all appointed to carry the burden of reaching the lost, those who do not know Jesus Christ personally as their Savior. Ministering the Gospel to the lost is the most noblest task that God gives us and the most rewarding as well. He will bless you tremendously for it, even if only one out of twenty receive Him. You do not have to do it alone, Jesus is with you. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” - Matthew 28:18-20.
Today's Psalm: 33:15 - “He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.”

God, Yesterday, today, and forever You are the faithful, changeless

walk with You as You lead us in the paths of righteousness while we
serve You in the field You have called us. Our future blessings are
awaiting as we faithfully serve You as Jesus served. We look to You
