Message Title: Seeing Beyond Our Eyes
Hello My Friend,
The word vision is defined as the act or power of sensing with the eyes, in other words, it’s what we see with our eyes. Anyone who denies the existence of God as they look up to the sky and see an amazing sun glaring at them is utterly blind, it’s truly magnificent how it knows exactly which direction to rise and which one to go down, and the power in it. Even to have vision is a gift from God and something that we all need to cherish. You know, even the blind can see? In fact, they probably see things well beyond what we can see with our own eyes. How? Because vision goes beyond the actual sight of what we see with our eyes. Everyone has a vision of some kind, some sort of goal they would like to reach in their future. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” – Proverbs 29:18.
What is God’s law? It’s God’s Word. If we follow the will of God through His Word we will never cease to have vision and we will succeed in all that we attempt in life. “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” – Psalm 1:1-3.
Vision is an amazing thing, perhaps the most important part of it is believing that it will, in fact, come to pass. If we do not see beyond our sight in what God can and will do for us than we will not be very prosperous. I am taking a cake decorating class, I had been thinking for some months about setting up a side business of making and selling cheesecakes. Well, I want to decorate the cheesecakes like a normal cake so, I am taking the class to enhance my cake decorating skills to make them more appealing on the eyes. I am one week into the class, already people are coming up to me asking me to make cheesecakes cakes for them. Why? Because they already know what I can do and see how successful I will be at it. All of a sudden that little side business might not be so little in the future, but I know if I omit God out of even the smallest detail my vision and my success will perish.
Twenty five years after the Jews were taken captive in Babylon, Ezekiel received a vision from God about a glorious city that was to be built. This was no ordinary city, this was the glorious city in which Jesus Christ would reign, and within this city will be a temple. The measurements of the grounds and the many details concerning the building and its unusual architectural design are recorded, but no instructions are given to Ezekiel regarding who would build it or when it would be built unlike Moses and David got when the Tabernacle and Temple were to be built.
In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south. And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel. And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures; And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering. And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering.” – Ezekiel 40:2-4, 35,38,39.
These tables are a reflection of the sacrifice that Christ made when He was slain as the burnt offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering. This is not to be a place for actual sacrifices as was Solomon’s temple was, but is for a commemoration of the sacrifice that Christ made for us. Jesus said that we are to often remind ourselves of the sacrifice He made for us and why we who are saved are saved. “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” – Luke 22:19,20.
After God showed Ezekiel the two inner courts He took him inside the temple, where the most Holy place in the temple would be. The most Holy place in the temple is the innermost room where the God’s presence would actually dwell and you would see it. “Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle. And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits. Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits. So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place.” – Ezekiel 41:1-3.
This is an emblem of the most holy and perfect state of the church on earth, it represents the New Jerusalem church state, that holy city, and into which nothing shall enter that defiles. Before Jesus came animal sacrifices were necessary in order to be clean and free from defilement. While animal sacrifices only masked the sin, Christ’s sacrifice washes away the sin that defiled the soul forever, making the believer capable of entering the holy city. Only those whom have applied the blood of Christ upon their soul are washed clean from anything that defiled them and will be allowed to be in the most holy place. “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” – Revelation 1:5.
God has great vision for all of His children, but unless we live in His Word and follow it our own vision will perish and we will not be prosperous in anything. Praise God that He sees more in us that we do in ourselves and for His mercy, grace, forgiveness, and patience in waiting for us to come to our senses. Only we have the power to turn our vision into something amazing and prosperous, but we must be willing to let Him oversee it all. “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” -John 15:16.
Today’s Prayer: God, It is just amazing to look up in the sky and see just what an amazing God You are, I can’t help, but praise You and thank You every time the sun glares in my eyes, knowing that it’s something You made. It is truly amazing and a blessing to be able to see with my eyes all Your magnificent work, including all of Your children. As different as You have made each and every one of us we all have one thing in common, vision. Vision that we will get to see Jesus face to face and live with Him eternally in His Kingdom. Lord, give us Your power, lead us and guide us, and keep us meditating on Your Word so that we never stop seeing the vision You have for us nor lose sight of the prosperity You bring just for us living in and through Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
