“You have to sleep sometime,” a
friend quoted his wife’s words. He said that
when they had gotten married, they argued a lot, despite being Christians. Evidently things could get quite heated
because he told of unidentified flying objects zooming about the house. Sometime
during one of these events she warned him never to hit her because he had to
sleep sometime.
As I thought on this story, I
thought of the scripture below. This woman took care of a dangerous man. He
asked for a drink and she gave him milk.
Maybe it was warm milk and cookies to lull him to sleep. At any rate, she made him comfortable and
when he fell asleep, she nailed him to the ground.
God has a way of taking care of
bad guys. My friend and his wife are
still together after all these years. God can convict the bad guy to repent or
eventually take him off the scene. God
may work in other ways, too.
The thing I need to remember when
I get out of sorts is that I have to sleep sometime and God is still in charge.
“Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in
her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and
fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.”
Judges 4:21.
