Genesis 32 God’s Escort
(Gen 32:1 KJV) And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
What a glorious escort! Jacob simply said, “This is God’s Host”, but I know he was excited. Then, amidst sending out gifts in troops to his brother, Jacob prayed, and asked for God’s protection. Jacob learned to pray as he went along the way, and of course, God heard his prayer. I see this as Jacob’s “consecration” to the Lord, a “new man” gets a “new name” in this chapter. Jacob, like many of us, wrestled with God, in prayer, and in submission, but he learned humility, and came away the better for it. When was the last time you struggled all night in prayer? It ends in victory, in seeing the mighty Power of God move in our lives. When was the last time you struggled at all in prayer, let alone all night? Oh how blessed it is when we pray, and refuse to let Him go until He does something in our lives, the blessing is all ours. With a Heavenly escort, we too can see God move in our lives, and in our hearts. Let Jesus be your escort! Prayer brings impossibilities to life! Oh to meet God as we go about our daily life, to “draw nigh” unto Him, and have Him “draw nigh” unto us. (James 4:8) If we seek Him personally, secretly, He will reward us openly, and abundantly. Seek Him “in the way” every day, all the time, “without ceasing”, and see Him work in your life. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths” (Prov. 3:6)
It is said of two men in the Bible, that they “walked with God”, these being Noah, and Enoch. Could this be said of us today? Of course it could, it’s up to us whether it will be or not. We need, so desperatly, to “walk with God.” And one of the ways we will accomplish this great task is to begin our walk with prayer. Prayer is fellowship with the Lord, among other things, and who better to fellowship with than God Himself? Take the advice of Prov. 3: 5 and 6 and see if it doesn’t make a difference in your life.
