Our Duty Series
Communication with God – The Tool that has many pieces:
Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
In this chapter 18 of Luke, God gives us some examples on how we need to pray
· (Verses 2-8) This what is call “The Relentless Prayer” or in prayers and supplications…
· (verses 9-14) This what is called the “The Requirement of Prayer”, the publican because he knew of his status, could not even look up to heaven. This will revolutionize our prayer life if we would quite looking out the window pointing out the things of other, and start looking in the mirror and allowing God to show us where we are!
Luke 21.36; Romans 12.12; Ephesians 6.18; Colossians 4.2
With confidence and belief that He will deliver: “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.” (Ephesians 3:12). “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. ” (Hebrews 4:16).
With joy that He can deliver. “Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.” (Acts 2:28)
With expectation that He is going to deliver:
· “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” (Psalm 5:3)
· “I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.” (Psalm 17:6).
Pray with faith:
· “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”(Hebrews 11:6).
Pray with worship and reverence:
· “Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.” (Psalm 99:5).
· “And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” (John 9:38).
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;” (Philippians 1:9)
