Today's Chapters: Job 34-37Message Title: Half Truths Hurt

Hello My Friend,

As we grow and mature in our Christianity we become wiser to the Word of God which allows us to minister to those who are just getting to know Christ or have never known Him. No matter our age we can be a witness to Christ, my nephew, at the age of five was telling his school mates about Jesus in kindergarten. Some of us comprehend God's Word quicker than others, but that does not mean one is more mature than another, it just means that God has revealed something to one that the other is not ready to comprehend yet. What we have to be careful of is those who think they know something that we do not know. Let me clarify that, while not one if us will read the same verse in the same way, what we do come up with as the Holy Spirit guides us should be something similar, those who come up with something completely different are the ones we need to be careful of. “
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” - Matthew 24:11-13.

Elihu was the youngest of the four friends that were supposed to be comforting Job through his time of need, we did not hear him speak until all the other friends had no more to say, but once he started he did not stop. At first he made some sense, then it all went down hill from there, he began accusing Job of things he thought he comprehended by his response to his friends accusations. “
Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.” - Job 34:4,5,9,35-37.

For someone who just sat there listening to everything that was being said he sure did not comprehend it all. His accusations against Job's testimony are, at best, half-truths and misinterpretations. When I was reading this chapter this morning I had to reread a couple of verses because I thought I was reading something wrong, I knew Job did not say, “
It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.” What he said was, speaking about the wicked who prosper and do not think they need anything from God, “Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?” - Job 21:14,15.

Have you ever had someone completely twist what you said around? Imagine how God feels about those who twist His Word around? People get into huge debates over God's Word, they quote verses after verses to back up their claim, sometimes I wonder what Bible they are reading because that is not what I read. The truth is, until Jesus gets here people will twist God's Word to prove their point, not God's. If we are truly reading God's Word, cover to cover, on a normal basis, we will learn who's point comes from the truth of God's Word as it is truly interpreted and who's point is of their own interpretation. Keep in mind that a saved and baptized person living in God's Word will hear the truth more than one who is not.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9,10,14.
Elihu continues to judge Job, this time, trying to get the other three friends to side with him. “Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee. Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.” - Job 35:2-4,8,13,16.
Job really did not open his mouth in vain, God heard him speaking He just did not show Himself. Perhaps he said some things out of discouragement, but there is not one person that does not pray to God once in a while and have doubts about what they are praying or have no meaning in it. I admit that I have prayed to God with no meaning at times, that is when it's time to awaken the spirit in us to revive our faith that all things are possible to those who believe. “
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.“ - Matthew 21:22.

Elihu continues his speech, maintaining that the affliction he was faced with was sent for his trial and lengthened because Job was not yet thoroughly humbled under it, still referring him to a hypocrite. “
Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf. I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.“ - Job 36:2-6,11-13.

God does all things for our own good and His glory, although it may seem sometimes that we are neglected and forgotten and that He has made an oversight, we shall be comforted and established. “
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” - I Peter 5:10.

There is always more to know about God, you can be sure that Satan will twist the Scriptures to try to mislead us, but that is just one more reason why we must study His Word for ourselves and do what we learn. It is great to have help, but we need to make sure that who we are getting advice from lines up with the Word of God. Even half-truths will send a person straight to hell, unless a person has solely accepted that the finished work in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ saves them then they are not saved. If they believe they need to be baptized too or remain good works to keep their salvation they are not saved. The only way a person is saved is accepting that they are a sinner, believing that Christ died to save the sinner, and confessing to God that they are a sinner and want Jesus to save them. “
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” - Romans 10:4,9,10.
Today's Prayer: God, I want to live my live according to Your Word, the things that I go through are not always about Your judgment or tests, it's about trusting You and believing that You can do anything You say You can do. When I am being persecuted, afflicted, or judged by others help me to respond with the knowledge that You have given me, let me not be taken by false prophets, but by Your truths. Keep me around people who tell Your truths truthfully and keep me in Your Word to let the Holy Spirit be my Guide to Your truths as I study them. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
