08/24 Beyond What We See

Date: Friday August 24, 2012Today’s ChaptersJeremiah 48-49Message Title: Beyond What We See
Hello My Friend,
We all want stuff and God wants to give us stuff, but how we obtain it is a different story. For instance, going to a dealership and signing a contract to purchase a car based on what you can afford is not the same as asking God to give you a car. Now, He can certainly send us some money to get a car, but it would not be a contract to make payments based on what we are able to afford, it would be something that only He can do, a raise, a bonus, something totally unexpected. Why? To prove that He is God and able to do above and beyond what we can do on our own. We are too dependent upon what we see in front of us, rather than what we God can do ahead of us, if we truly want God to bless us with things we need to believe that He alone is the one who can give them to us. It’s all about faith and having complete trust in God, not in our own abilities, if we are trusting in what we can do for ourselves, we will lose everything, but trusting in God’s abilities, we will gain much.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Matthew 6:19-2133,34.
God’s judgment upon Israel was coming to pass, Judah and Jerusalem was invaded just as Jeremiah warned the people. Most of them had been carried off to Babylon to await a 70 year captivity, which actually kept them safe, the rest were scattered all over surrounding nations in an attempt to escape the judgment. However, there was no escape, because God was not done with Israel, all the nations were about to be judged as well. God sent Jeremiah to warn the people of that judgment, some of the nations, too wicked to even have one person saved would be destroyed completely, but others were warned to get to higher ground before that judgment came. Through Jeremiah, God foretells the fate of Moab.
Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness. For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken. Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein. Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.” – Jeremiah 48:6-10.
God gives them a chance to save their lives before the destruction would take place, this is the same warning given to all nations today. Destruction is coming, the earth will be destroyed, nations will be destroyed, and only those who flee will be saved. Money will not save us, possessions will not save us, people will not save us, Jew or Gentile, rich or poor, we all face the same judgment. However, there is a way for us to flee and that is only by believing in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The sword is the Word of God, we who are saved must use the sword to lead others to be saved exactly as God’s Word tells us, those who trust or teach any other way to be saved will be cursed.
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” – Romans 2:9-13.
Believe it or not, much of the destruction taking place today in the world is a blessing from God. If you are saved, you have nothing to worry about because your home will be in heaven when the really bad things start to happen. It is unfortunate that God has to use such drastic measures as war, famine, earthquakes, and raging storms to get people’s attention, but that is the case and always has been. God send Jeremiah to give a message Ammon, relatives of Moab, they had the same father, who was Lot, the nephew of Abraham. God had given that country of Gilead to Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad, but the Ammonites had taken it and still possessed it.
Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities? Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD. Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together. Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me? Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth. And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.” – Jeremiah 49:1-6.
I am sure if the Ammonites trusted God that He would have welcomed them in the land, but they took complete possession of it, set up their idol in it, and offered sacrifices to it. No one, no matter who we are, can be blessed by God if we are worshiping other gods, which is anything that takes possession of our lives over God. “For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.” – Ephesians 3:5-7.
Today’s Prayer: God, It is truly amazing the blessings You give us just by faith and obedience to You, much more that having faith is trusting that You can provide us with everything we need and even our desires. Help us to look beyond what we see in front of us and trust that you are our sole provider. Never let us forget that we are Yours and You only want the best for us, show us how to reach those who are approaching You that are not saved how they too need You in order to be saved and see Your blessings unfold. Thank You God for all that You do, allow, and all that You have in store for us as we trust You completely. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
