Message Title: A Witness And Testimony
Hello My Friend,
Those that have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior have received the wonderful gift of eternal life. Regardless of how bad we have been or how bad we may be in the future, that gift will never be taken away from us. While our works do not save us, it is the works after we are saved that are profitable, most of all, being a witness and a testimony to others. After Jesus taught the disciples how to preach the Gospel, He sent 70 more, with the same instructions.
After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.”- Luke 10:1-7.
Jesus said, “the harvest truly is great”, meaning there are many souls that need to be witnessed too, but few who actually are willing to go out and do it. Therefore, He chooses them Himself and you are one of them. There truly is no better feeling than to see someone bow their head and trust Jesus Christ as their Savior, it’s truly joyous. In fact, there is a party in heaven every time a soul is saved. “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” – Luke 15:10.
Do you remember yesterday’s passage, Jesus gave the disciples authority and power to cast out devils? These seventy He sent out to preach the Gospel had that very same power. They couldn’t believe what they witness, when they returned to Jesus, jumping with joy over their victory, Jesus warned them not to boast over their victory. “And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.”- Luke 10:17-20,23,24.
While we do have the power in us to put Satan in his place, we must be aware of spiritual pride, which has been the destruction of many. Satan is always lurking about just waiting to catch us off guard, he is subject only to God, not us, and while he cannot take our salvation away from us he can cause a lot of trouble. Therefore, let Jesus praise us and not ourselves, since all our victories over Satan, are obtained by the power derived from the Holy Spirit in us. Christ has always resisted the proud, and gives grace to the humble, the more dependent we are on His teaching, help, and blessings, the more we shall know both of the Father and of the Son. “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” – Romans 8:33,34.
The lighting fall from heaven that Jesus was referring to relates to Satan, who is also known as Lucifer, he was once one of God’s arch angels, but he tried to make himself above God and after a great battle was cast out of heaven. “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” – Isaiah 14:12-15.
You are a witness and a testimony of the wonderful, miraculous, life giving life that God has given you. One great promise that Jesus assures us for our faithfulness to God is to assist us in prayer, and He encourages us to expect blessings by it. “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” – Luke 11:9-13.
Today’s PrayerGod, I want to be a witness and a testimony for others to see the amazing life that they too can have when they place their faith and trust in Your Son. I know Satan is on my back and waiting for me to fall, but by Your power I know I can remain standing. Thank You, Lord for all the joys, sorrows, and tears you place before me to be a witness and a testimony for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
