Message Title: Trusting Truth or Hype
Hello My Friend,
Throughout Jesus’ ministry multitudes of people would just flock to see Him, some where true believers before they even saw Him and wanted to get a glimpse of Him, some were not quite sure if they believed, but when they saw Him became true believers, and some did not believe at all and were just looking for ways to try and discredit Him. One day, there was so many people trying to see Jesus that they began stomping over each other. Jesus seeing all this, cautions the disciples not to believe all the hype of the religious people, trust their intentions, or be afraid of them.
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Luke 12:4-7,29-31.
God takes care of His people, every hair on their bodies is protected, and to be honest, a saved born again Christian needs not to fear death because if they died today they would be with Jesus. While none of us wake up in the morning hoping God would come and get us right now, we will be safe with Him if He does. What we do need to fear is what would happen to those who do not know Christ. While God does not want to see anyone end up in hell, that’s exactly where every person who has not received Christ will end up. He alone has the keys to get us out of being hell bound, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” – Revelation 1:18.
Of course by now, all the people, including the disciples, were wondering just who would be the ones being cast into hell, certainly it must be those who are the worst sinners. Jesus responds, but is probably one that many do not want to hear. “And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” – Luke 13:2-5.
All sin, whether it is murder or thinking of murder results in the same fate, hell. However, God sent Jesus Christ to give all the chance to escape that fate through repentance. To repent simply means to admit you have sinned, to know that hell is the punishment for having sinned, to believe that Jesus died, was buried, and arose to pay the price for that sin, and trusting only in Him as Your Savior. This is the same way that the people before Christ came to earth were saved, they too had to believe in the Savior that was coming to save them.
For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” – Hebrews 9:19,20,27,28.
As Jesus taught in the synagogues it did not go very well with the false religious leaders, one in particular is exposed. “And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.” – Luke 13:14-17.
You can be sure that there are many false religions with ruthless leaders out there still today who want nothing more than to stop the truth from being told, and they will try to stop anyone who exposes their lies. However, they will be exposed for the liars they are and get to join the devil in the lake of fire. “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” – Revelation 20:10.
Those who accept will join Him in heaven, those who reject will end up in hell, it doesn’t matter how good or bad we are, if we do not accept Christ we end up in hell. It is not by our works of righteousness that we are saved, it is by our belief and faith in Christ and Christ alone. Jesus confirms who will perish. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” -Revelation 21:8.
Today’s Prayer: (adapted from Psalm 23 & 31)
God, The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; Lord, lead me and guide me, show me the truth, the life, and the way and let me live it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
