6/16 Strength for Today

Don’t Be the “Who”

Galatians 3:1
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”

In the Scriptures, God often asked His people whom it was that caused them to stray from the truth. When a person goes astray from God, it is always because someone influenced them. Hardly ever do you see someone going astray without any influence. Most likely someone influenced that person to go astray.

God warned us through these examples that we must be careful about who we let influence us. It is those whom we let influence us that will either lead us astray or draw us closer to God.

On the other hand, we must be careful that we are not the “who” that causes others to go astray. We are asked, “who hath bewitched you,” but you must be careful in your life that you are not the “who” that led someone astray.

Whether or not you believe that you have any influence over others, you always do. Your influence can cause others to either do right or wrong. If you’re a parent, you have the power to influence your children. If you’re a Sunday school teacher, you have the power to influence those whom you teach. If you hold any type of position, you have the power to influence someone. Even if you have no position at all, someone is watching you and will copy what you do.

You must be careful that you don’t allow your actions to influence others to perform the wrong actions. Because you are influencing others, your actions will influence others to perform the same actions. Make sure that your actions are such that you would not lead others astray.

You must also be careful that you don’t allow your attitude to influence others to have a wrong attitude. Though you may have the right actions, many times your attitude about people or things will influence others the wrong way. If you have a bad attitude concerning authority, your attitude will influence others to have a bad attitude towards authority. Don’t let your attitude influence others for wrong.

Furthermore, be careful that the conversations you have don’t influence others to do wrong. If you allow gossip to come from your lips, then you will influence others in a wrong way. If you take part in filthy conversations or jokes, you will influence others to do wrong. Be careful about any conversation you may have realizing that someone whom you will influence is listening.

Yes, you need to be careful about whom you let influence you, but you also need to be careful that you don’t become the “who” that influences others for wrong. Don’t ever let it be said that you are the “who” that led someone astray; instead be the “who” that leads others to do right.
