How is your building – Living Victoriously?

1 Corinthians 3:10 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.”

In 1 Corinthians 3:10 there is a portion of that scripture that I want to focus on.

It is the last portion “…But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.”

The word HEED in this verse means to behold, beware, perceive, and to sight.

In our houses we have many rooms, and in these rooms we conduct ourselves in a manner according to the room. If we are going to live victoriously in Christ we must allow the rooms of our heart (like a house) be honoring to God.

1. The Den – Here we have a place where we may have our library, our computer, magazines, etc… This I would like to say that we need to take care of our eyes.

Psalms 101:3 “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”

In this verse we see that David made a choice to not allow wicked things to come into his eye gate. If we remember that he learned this the hard way with his sin with Bathsheba.

2. The Living Room – Here I liken this in the part of our lives with fellowship.

We first need to make sure that we are in fellowship with God (more on this later)

1 John 1:6-7 “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

The second aspect of fellowship it those people that we are fellowshipping with. Does the attitude of the group desire the things of God?

2 Corinthians 6:14 (v14-18) “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

2 John 1:10-11 “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

3. The Dining Room – Here I think of eating or the intake of food. What are we putting into our lives? Are we looking to God’s Word, Preaching, Teaching, Music, etc…

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

4. The Kitchen – Here when we are cooking or baking there is a great savor going throughout the house (especially when Chocolate Chip Cookies are being made). What kind of aroma are you permeating in your life, or in other words, what is your testimony like?

Romans 14:16 “Let not then your good be evil spoken of:”

1 Peter 3:8(v8-17) “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”

Are being an example of Christ? Do we love people despite what they are doing to us? This is the biggest area that we can get our testimony ruined if we are not on guard from the attacks from Satan.

5. The Bedroom – In our bedroom we have to meet ourselves. This is where we are without our facade of righteousness. If we are true to God, and ourselves we will look into our hearts and ensure that we are right with him. Here we have a closet, our prayer closet…do you spend time with God there? How about looking in the mirror, the Bible, and seeing where your heart is?

Proverbs 21:2 “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.”

6. The Bathroom/Laundry – Here as you may know is where we get cleaned up. In this area we need to have a committed time to God in our confession of sin. This could be linked to any part of our house and should have many of them. Are you harboring any sin in your life? Are your dirty clothes stacking up and you haven’t bowed the knee for forgiveness?

1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (Put the dirty clothes in the closet so you will not see them…hiding sin?)

v9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (Looking at the dirt and filth and getting it cleaned up.)

v10 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (The denial of that the clothes that we have on are dirty…we are sinners by nature!)

In our lives we need to have a house that Jesus would be welcomed into. There is nothing hid with God, for He sees everything. Are we living victoriously? Which room do you need to get cleaned up?
