8/9 Strength for Today

A Heart Transplant
1 Samuel 10:9

“And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.”

Every once in awhile you hear of a person who needs a heart transplant. They need a transplant because their heart is weak or dying, and they need someone else's heart in order to live. In order for a heart transplant to occur, someone must die so another may live. Yet, once the heart transplant has occurred, the person who received the transplanted heart has a new outlook on life.

We see in the verse above that Saul had a heart transplant. Notice that it says, “...God gave him another heart...” This was not a literal heart transplant, but this was a spiritual heart transplant. Saul came to the man of God with one heart, but he left with another heart. Saul left his father with one heart, but he came back home with another heart. This heart transplant changed Saul's life forever.

There are many Christians who need a heart transplant. Many Christians are still working off of the old worldly, selfish heart and see their walk with God going nowhere. If they are ever going to do something great for God then they need to get a heart transplant.

There were several things that led to Saul's heart transplant and that you must do if you want to have another heart. The first step that led to Saul’s heart transplant was that he had an obedient spirit. Secondly, that obedient spirit led him to completely obey his father. Thirdly, he had a walk with God. Fourthly, Saul’s walk with God led him to have a humble spirit. Because he had a humble spirit, that led Saul to communing with the right people. Communing with the right people led him to listen to the preaching of the man of God. But most importantly, Saul was anointed with the Holy Spirit of God, and the result of all of these steps was that the old Saul died and he walked away alive with another heart.

You will never have a heart transplant without following the same steps that Saul took. Yes, you need a heart transplant. This world has too many Christians whose hearts are not what they should be. If you would take these same steps that Saul took, you also could walk away with another heart.

I promise that when God gives you another heart, others will notice. When God gives you another heart, your actions and purposes in life will change. When God gives you another heart, yours will dies, but Christ will live through you. The things you once desired will not be as important as the things of God. Follow the steps that Saul took to get another heart and you will have a successful heart transplant.
