Circumstances Mark 4.35-41
In this passage there are many things that we can see. I believe that there are two things that stand out Jesus’ command to go to the other side and the Storm.
1. Jesus expected obedience
a. Matthew 28.18-20,
b. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
c. There are things that God will ask of us Husbands and Dads, Wives and Moms, and Children – God expects to follow precisely what He had stated.
1 Samuel 12.6-15; 15.22
Deuteronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,”
2. Jesus expected peace (Stillness, inability to speak)
a. Psalms 4:4 “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.”
b. Psalms 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
This I believe as to do with a peace that God has given us to stay on course no matter the circumstances around us.
3. Jesus expected faithfulness
a. Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
i. This takes faithfulness to the word of God
b. Romans 14:23 “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
i. This takes faithfulness to the knowledge that God has given to you
c. Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
i. This takes a godly understand of how we need to follow after God.
