“There is no greater calling than
to be a preacher of the Gospel,” cried the preacher during chapel services to
us students in Bible College. That
statement is true, yet I have come to look at that idea a little differently.
We can all be preachers of the Gospel, yet not be a pastors or
evangelists.
“There is no greater calling than
to be exactly in the center of God’s will for your life,” is my version of such
a statement. The idea is that if God has
called a person to be an elected servant in our government, then that is what
he/she should do. God can place he/she
in a position “for such a time as this.” God may place a person as a worker in
a company to be a voice for “such a time as this.” God could move someone to be a volunteer in
an organization to stand for what is right at “such a time as this.” An example
is, God had Paul and Silas arrested and placed in jail for “such a time as
this” in order that the jailer to hear the Gospel.
If I am exactly where God wants
me to be, then I am here for a reason. I
am to be his spokesperson wherever I am.
He allowed Parkinson’s in my life for “such a time as this.” One aspect
is that God has allowed me to live in this day and age in order for me to post
devotionals on the internet for “such a time as this.”
My thought today is to be sure
that I am Biblically right with God and thus in the center of His will. With that in mind, I am to be a preacher of
the Gospel in my circle of influence. I am to be what God wants me to be for “such
a time as this.”
“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall
there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but
thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou
art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14.
