Why read the instructions when trial and error will work?
There is nothing like frustration to give a guy a feeling of grrrr prior to
completion of a project. Then flopping down in his favorite chair with a heavy
sigh as a reward of a job finished, but not necessarily well done. These days
one can go to Youtube and find out how to do just about anything. But that requires taking time out to watch a
video and thus, robbing a man of the feeling of accomplishing something totally
himself complete with extra parts left over.
I am learning that taking a little time to read instructions
or watch a video can save me some exasperation and time. Why not learn from
someone who has learned it already? Why
not let someone teach me from their study and experience instead of learning by
doing?
The pastor knows his responsibility to preach the Word of
God correctly. He spends time studying a
passage. When he brings the message he
reads from the Bible in a manner that people can hear and understand. Then he gives the sense because sometimes I
have a wrong idea of a passage or word that needs correction. Sometimes I am
simply too lazy to look up a word and study – like reading the instructions for
a project. I am learning to learn from someone who has learned already.
Praise God for Godly preaching!
“So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and
gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” Nehemiah 8:8.
