Job's Wife - Guarding Your Testimony, Part 2 of 3

4. When hard times come, be sure you are there to comfort your husband. Our husband’s are to be the head of the home, and I still believe the man should be the bread winner of the home. Because of this, the responsibility of the home falls on his shoulders. When he loses a job, be there to comfort him. If he loses a parent, be there to comfort him. If he becomes severely ill, be there to comfort him. As the wife your main responsibility in life is your husband, that’s what God created you for. Many times you allow other things to come before him, maybe it’s children, a job, taking care of a parent in their older years, etc. Always remember your husband comes first. He needs to feel your love and comfort during the hard times. He may have his walk with God that keeps him going, but many times the only other thing that gets him through hard times is knowing that he has the encouragement of a loving wife who will comfort and help him to get through it.

5. When all others forsake your husband, be there for him. Sometime in life you will have the feeling of being forsaken. It may be that because you and your husband are Christians, your families will have nothing to do with you. It may be that the Lord will call your family to the mission field, and when you are out in the middle of nowhere you will feel like no one knows where you are. Your husband may have to take a stand for right, and in doing so you are forsaken. No matter what the situation may be, let your husband know that if he has no one else on earth in his corner, you are there and will follow him to the ends of the Earth. Your husband may lose everything in life, but be sure he doesn’t lose you!

6. Even when you have doubt with about God is doing with your husband, be sure to be with him in the end. If Job’s wife was the normal woman, she probably wondered what they had done to bring so many trials. If she was the normal woman, then I’m very sure that she began to question God. Job’s wife endured more than what most of us ever will. She lost everything she had but her husband. Her emotions were very raw. When she saw that even her husband’s health was afflicted, you can understand her speaking without thinking. Am I saying I agree with what she said? Absolutely not! I do think that at the moment she saw Job afflicted with boils, knowing she had lost everything else, that she felt she was about to lose her husband as well. She was at the point where she felt she could take no more. The wonderful thing was that at the end of the story she was still with Job. God had taken so much from them, but they still had each other.
